hi, Transaction A and B can start transaction C (using EXEC CICS START). Is there a way in transaction C (program C) to find out if it was started from tran A or from tran B using some CICS commands?

Both the transaction A and B start C without any data.

edward.samson,

Can't use the USERID field to pass the program name on the START command?

hi Kolusu, Thanks for your reply. Programs A, B and C are already existing. My requirement is that when it is from A i should mark the amounts as credit and when it is from B i should mark them as debit. The debit/credit field is only one of the 1000 fields used in this program. So just for the sake of 1 field i would not like to do start with data and retrieve.

Also is there a way to differentiate between transaction C when it was time triggered and started by transaction?
