I am trying to create a report showing list of jobs and their start and end time. I am able to write a rexx which creating a report by picking up the below names
SMF30JBN - jobname
SMF30PGM - pgmname
SMF30STM-stepname
SMF30STN - stepnumber
SMF30CLS - jobclass
SMF30SIT - job start time
SMF30RET - job end time

For job start and end, I am always getting 00:00:00 as the time. Is it due to some parameter is not turned on in SMF and hence it is not recording it. Also are these the correct fields to be picked up for job start and end time

I am extracting it from subtype 4. If I use 5, pgmname, stepname and stepnumber are getting blank

Subtype 5 will not have PGMNAME and Stepname/number in them. Either you need to merge Subtype 4 and 5(by matching the SMF30DTE SMF30TME) to get what you are looking for or you can have Jobname (SMF30JBN) and Job Number(SMF30JNM) from subtype 5

Unfortunately subtype 5 also has both SMF30SIT and SMF30RST blank. Spent a lot of time today to debug the issue. The offset for SMF30SIT is 267 and SMF30RST is 283. I displayed the offsets, those are blanks. I am not sure if I am making any mistake while taking the dump:(

Raj051076,

I am not sure as to how you arrived at the offsets as being 267 for SMF30SIT. You do realize that it is part of variable section and you need to account for the variable offset which is stored in SMF30IOF and SMF30ILN consists the length of the variable section. So unless you accounted for that you are always going to get wrong results.

BTW SM30 is the most changed SMF record and you need to make sure you are reading the appropriate level of SMF record in lieu with your operating system.

I have solved this, the problem was that I did not notice that I was truncating the record. Instead of 32756, I was taking it as 256 while converting the VBS to FB.
