Hi,

We have a requirement wherein we have to merge data belonging to IMS database present in two places into one one IMS database.

Do we have utilities to do this wherin we can run unload from both the places, then another utility to merge and then upload into the new database.

Please note that the structure of both the databases is similar.

Please help

Regards,
Abhishek

adutta24,

1. Unload both databases
2. Use SORT to merge the unload files on the key
3. Reload it back

Similar or same? Remember -- you're talking about hierarchical database. And IMS is positional, it'll bite if the structure is not just same.

I think Abhishek is saying that the input and output data bases are both IMS.

If so, then the usage of word "one" is misleading

What I get is: There are 3 databases involved here, let's say they are old1, old2 and new1. old1 and old2 are of same (similar?) structure and he wants to combine these two into new1.

Well, enough about guessing today...Smile

For Unload I am using DFSURGU0.

Now I am not able to read and understand the format of the unloaded file
