Our shop doesn't use C, but the C libraries get loaded during ServerPac install.
Last night, I worked my way through the compile and link edit of the C sample for DFHPEP.
The questions I encountered along the way were:
1- Does the C compiler show up on SCRT reports? Is this a billable item if it is used?
2- Before using DFHYITDL (and getting a load module produced), I tried compiling using a sample form the C manuals. The modified sample program would return RC12 with the mesage that the include <dfhpcomd> could not be found. The output for the job executing DFHYITDL shows the lINCLUDE FILES SYS2.IBM.CICS.SDFHC370(DFHPCOMD). This line of output is missing in the modified samole output. Where does the intelligence live in DFHYITDL to know to include the library with the dfhpcomd headers?
3- The Pre Link step (EDCPRLK) gives RC4, but there are no discernable messages in the output. Message Summary states 0 messages. Is a RC4 expected?
4- Generic question. What is the meaning of XL C/C++ ? Is this a marketing term to distinguish it for the z platform?
5- Kudos to the developer of the C DFHPEP sample. By studying it, you get a great insight on DFH system programming and what is achievable. The conversion from string to packed decimal was VERY cool.
