Venkat,
I have a lot of patience dealing with newbie questions. I asked if your questions are a part of interview questions in this topic.
http://www.mvsforums.com/helpboards/viewtopic.php?t=3125
You never answered that question and on the top of it you came with dozens of questions.
Well let me see if I can answer your questions.

Duh !! that is very simple . DB2 has only 3 alphabets in it, whereas VSAM has 4 alphabets in it. Do you know how much time/energy it takes to write/spell/memorize an extra alphabet?

hmm this is tough one !!
IDCAMS has CAM in it and I always had hard time Operating my CAMcorder. So I would rule that out.
I always had trouble syncing my lotus notes calendar onto my palm pilot. So I would avoid that too.
So I am only left with SORT. I will take that

Huh ! so you really beleive that I cannot add numbers ! Is deletion considered as subtraction ?
Code: |
If deletion = subtraction
result = loc + addition - deletion + changes
else
result = loc + addition + deletion + changes
end-if
|
Phew ! I hate numbers !!

I found something here.if deletion = subtraction then
result should not consider the changes. |

Actually, I think the exact logic is Code: | if considered_important(lines_of_code)
do
Call project_manager_is_an_idiot()
newjob=find_sensible_place_to_work()
Start(newjob) /* start new job as new task */
Quit
end |

I have been tasked with coming up with interview questions (as our company is outsourcing 30-80% of our current work force). India, Poland, China are all in play. At any rate coming up with good interview questions (in my case for an MVS systems programmer) is not the easiest thing to do and takes time. However in this post, if these were the interview questions asked then in my opinion they are extremely poor, worse than poor... whatever that is. |

taltyman, I couldn't agree more! One of my major gripes with these so-called "Interview" questions is that they seem to be extremely un-realistic in their scope. You've seen the same questions, I'm sure:
- How to run only steps 2, 4, and 6 of a job.
- How many ways can parameters be passed from a job to a COBOL program.
- How can a job be scheduled to run at a future time.
- How to date and/or time-stamp a dataset.
- etc., etc.
Maybe these tests are being given as aptitude assessments for potential candidates that lack specific technical skills, as a way to determine where in the IT organization they best fit in.
From what I've been seeing, and from past experiences with testing potential candidates, it seems like it would be a good idea to use multiple variations of test questions to avoid potential cheating. |
