InfoMan,

From File Aid , you can get the last edited date and time i.e Modification Date and time of your VSAM dataset.

Option:-- Fileaid.3.5
In the VSAM allocation option , just give your vsam dataset and just press Enter , you will get your required Modification date and time.

Very Happy Hope this Information is useful for you.

Phantom,

I got so many threads after searching for SMF. Those were leading to topics in IBM site.
I am not able open them.
Response on this is appreciated.

vkphani,

Getting data from SMF is not all that easy. First of all we need to know if your shop maintains an history of SMF and if so, for how many days. I know that SMF could be read using SAS / Assembler, but I have got no idea.

Just give me sometime, I can probably paste whatever is listed in the IBM site for you.

Thanks,
Phantom

If you are having problems with managing dates, you really need to manage the data a bit better. You could look into some tools that help with managing data. I know of two tools that can help with Mainframe data sources, Grid-Tools and Data Vantage. I think they are the only two in the market at the moment?

Ermmmm, I am not really sure how this contribution adds any value to the thread. Would you care to elaborate on your theory a little ?
