Do you have a tape management system (CA-1, TLMS, RMM, etc?). There are utilities available for tape depending on your software.

Kolusu,

Does SMF provide details on Tape Datasets too ? Or does it contain details only about Catalogued datasets in DASD ?

Thanks,

Hi kolusu,
That question is not equally same i believe. here what i want is a program with the details i ask above.
because i'm doing a decomissioning project. I have thousands of dataset in my hand. i manually find the job name which creates this Tape/Dasd and create the excel. if i have a job to do it, i can put all the datasets in sysin parameter and get the jobname, creation date etc outputs in a dataset.

Thanks

Can you tell me how are you able to find out the jobname manually? As far as I know 3.4 listing does not show the creator of the dataset for DASD dataset. For tape datasets , your shop tape management keeps track of the creator of the dataset.

Phantom,

It depends on the setup by your storage administration folks.
