Hi,

"automatically review internal program tables for potential overflow. Produce automatic notification if a threshold has been reached".

the above lines are my problem statment, is there any way to check the table overflow with out changing all the programs in the applilcation system.

Thanks in advance.

basheerbaba,

Look up the compiler option SSRANGE. Search the forum for that word and you will find many examples.

then you need to put code in to check. I would suggest that before you 'ADD' an item, check the table size (counter, whatever) to insure that the overflow will not be reached. Hopefully, you only add items in a few places and your re-write will not be that complicated.

Better than trying to trap a SOC4 would be to put a little logic in to maintain a count of current items and when you add an item, compare the current-item-count to the total-possible-table-count.
