You can delete define the file. |

srinu14165,
1. Delete the cluster and re-define it
2. If the cluster is defined with REUSE then copy an empty flat file to the vsam cluster using SORT/FILE-AID
Hope this helps...
Cheers

Hi all,
Thanks much for your response. I thought there would be some other easy way to do it, rather than del/define.
Anyway, I appreciate your prompt response |

What did you have in mind ? a DEL/DEf takes what, 2 seconds. What could be easier ? _________________ If it's true that we are here to help others,

If del-def takes 2 seconds, editing the file directly takes 1 millisecond!

And if the file has nn millions of records ? Do you want to sit there and delete them all.
And, no doubt your shop has FILEAID installed, but not every shop does which would probably rule out your solution on a global scale. _________________ If it's true that we are here to help others,
