Ravijaya,

Yes it is possible. you can declare a workarea for the maximum length and then use it in the program.
Code:

FILE FILEA WORKAREA 9999                                                     
       DATA-RECA       001 9999 A

DEFINE W-RECA   W  04 N 0


Now you can the use the RECORD-LENGTH Feature to get the exact length of the file.

W-RECA = RECORD-LENGTH(FILEA)
