Rexx can convert julian to about any date format so that's not a problem. The timing of the job could be the potential bug as you suggest. You could always include the 0 gdg and get an extra minus gdg and cover yourself.

Thanks a lot Kolusu and Frank for your valuable responses.
Kolusu,
My file strucure is changed a bit. The file length is 174 and is FB.
The date filed (PIC X( 08)) starts at the position 90 and the length is 8.
What are the changes I need to do if I'm using the FINAL solution provided by you..?

Note: Hope I don't need to change anything except the program name
if I'm using SYNCTOOL.

Somuk,

The only change you will need is to specify the start position on outrec.Take a look at the outrec statement(there will be 2 of them for the final solution)
change this
Code:

 OUTREC=(C' INCLUDE COND=(1,6,CH,EQ,C',X'7D',

to
Code:

 OUTREC=(C' INCLUDE COND=(90,6,CH,EQ,C',X'7D',

Note that start position is changed to 90 instead of 1. so you need to change that on the outrec of c2 file also.

Hope this helps...

cheers

kolusu

With z/OS DFSORT V1R5 PTF UK90007 or DFSORT R14 PTF UK90006 (April, 2006), you can now use various types of past and future date constants directly in the INCLUDE, OMIT, INREC, OUTREC and OUTFIL statements. For example, in this case, you can use a DFSORT job like this:

Code:

//S1 EXEC PGM=ICEMAN
//SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN DD DSN=...  input file
//SORTOUT DD DSN=...  output file
//SYSIN DD *
   OPTION COPY
   INCLUDE COND=(90,6,CH,EQ,DATE2-1)
/*

For complete details on all of the new DFSORT and ICETOOL functions available with the April, 2006 PTFs, see:
