In my last project,I remember very well,we used to compile & Link edit Cobol & PL/I soure programs from ISPF editor.

If would appreciate if any one can share the Rexx code for those macros.

venkata Ramana Reddy,

On the ISPF primary menu you have 2 options.

  • Foreground (OPTION 4)

  • Batch (OPTION 5)

choose option 5

There you can choose in which language you want to compile .

It has ASSEMBLER,COBOL FORTRAN,PL/I , VPASCAL....

Choose the option based on your language and it will generate the JCL for you.

Hope this helps...

cheers

Kolusu,
Thanks.Hope I am not clear with what I want.OK this is what I am exactly looking at ....

I want to compile the source code without coming out of the source code.

I remember very well,we used to open the source code and just type CMAC(to compile) & LMAC(to link) in the command prompt and hit enter.

Hope I am clear now....

Venkata Ramana Reddy,

Those might be edit macros developed inhouse to compile and link-edit.
I have my own edit macros that will show me the compile JCL prepared from a skeleton, for me to submit.

You may want write one.

I also have developed my own execs to compile and link from within source code and/or linkage code. Not sure that they'd be any use to you since they use skeletons to build up the JCL and obviously these are customised for our installation.
I could send them to you but ONLY on the assumption that you are competent in REXX and skeletons (ie, no support from my side)
