Phani,
I know i am providing the error messages from the jcl that i just submitted. Would you please let me know why you are saying that i am not providing the correct messages. I might probably try to look out for what exactly do you need.
I have given everything but for the sortsnap messages.
I believe it would help if you could please specify what kind of error messages do you need here. I understand that you are trying to help me. But a generic statement like that does not help me providing you with the correct messages. Request your help in this regard.
Thanks
Anand |

Anand | anandss_75,
Phani would not have refreshed the page. (Same case with me). So we replied to ur post which did not have the corresponding error messages for the job.
Your recent post had the corresponding error message which we were expecting. We shall try to help you out in this regard. _________________ Vivek G

Vivek,
Thanks a ton.
My only intention of posting it to this forum is to find out ..if the sort cards can be fine tuned to avoid B37. I personally am not convinced that this problem is caused just because of the space issues. I believe the sort card has something to do with the increased space requirements for the TEMP file.
Hence my request to this forum. I appreciate all the effort that is pouring in.
Thanks
Anand. |

SB37 is a result of space issues while writing in the target dataset. The following information would be helpful:
1. Check the size of the input datasets IN1 and IN2.
2. There are 3 passes in the job. Try executing the job by giving one pass at a time. Dont use temp datasets when you are testing this. After first and second pass, check the size of the output datasets. (Dont use the same dataset for the second pass).
The reason maybe like the sum of the size of output datasets from the 2 passes may be greater than the space allocated for the temp dataset. (&&t1). _________________ Vivek G

Anand,
Control card below //CP01CNTL DD * is commented out there in your code.
Give like this and try.
| Code: | //CP01CNTL DD *
OUTREC BUILD=(1271:C'1') |
I am not sure whether this is going to solve your problem. You better provide your requirement, then we can think of a solution. |

You show this:
| Code: |
IEC030I B37-04,IFG0554A,VSISNAG0,S1,T1,1F0C,WK7071,04210010,SYS07296.
|
and this:
| Code: |
ICE200I 0 IDENTIFIER FROM CALLING PROGRAM IS 0002
ICE143I 0 BLOCKSET COPY TECHNIQUE SELECTED
...
ICE084I 0 EXCP ACCESS METHOD USED FOR T1
ICE084I 0 EXCP ACCESS METHOD USED FOR IN2
ICE751I 2 EF-K10929 F0-Q84357 DA-K26318
ICE185A 0 AN SB37 ABEND WAS ISSUED BY DFSORT, ANOTHER PROGRAM OR AN EXIT (PHAS
|
This indicates that the B37 occurred when you tried to copy/reformat the IN2 records to the T1 data set (which already had the reformatted IN1 records). You are increasing the records to 1271 bytes each - I assume that's because the output records need to be 1270 bytes.
It's purely a case of an out of space condition for the T1 data set. It may be that although you're trying to specify a large amount of space for T1, your system doesn't actually have that much space available.
It would have helped to see the DFSMSG messages for the first COPY (IN1 to T1) but you didn't show those.
How many records does your IN1 data set have? How much space does it occupy? What is its RECFM and LRECL?
How many records does your IN2 data set have? How much space does it occupy? What is its RECFM and LRECL?
You could try copying IN1 to T1 to see how much space that requires. Then separately, try copying IN2 to T1 to see how much space that requires. Then add the two to see the total amount of space you need in T1 so you can see if you actually have that much space available at your site. _________________ Frank Yaeger - DFSORT Development Team (IBM)

| You are asking for a primary space allocation of 9000 cylinders and up to 16 extents of 9000 cylinders. Since you didn't request multiple volumes then the volume chosen must be at least a mod 9. A mod 9 holds a little over 10000 cylinders. My guess is you got your 9000 primary and maybe 1 secondary extent and then the volume was full. You need to allocate on multiple volumes or use vio. I guess it is possible that your shop has mod 27s so in that case you could get more space but the end result is the same. |

See the UNIT JCL subparameter to allocate more than one volume to your T1 allocation (as taltyman mentioned). _________________ ....Terry |
