I read from a DB2 book that an Alias is available to all users but Synonym is private to the who user who creates it. Aliases are stored in SYSTABLES and Synonyms are stored in SYSSYNONYMS. I would like to know how DB2 prevents an user from using Synonym that is created by another user. |

how about CREATOR from sysynonyms (as well as the synonym) cross referenced (joined) to SYSIBM.SYSDBAUTH table.
that is a guess. as a developer never really cared how db2 enforces policies, just knew that it did.
to get the real answer, ask a DBA. _________________ Dick Brenholtz

kalidasv,
By Default synonyms are ONLY accessible to the owner who created them.
