|
|
I've read the online help, but I get the impression that what I want to do isn't supported.
Let's assume I have a number of datasets along these lines
Quote: |
xxxx.yyyy.DAA011
xxxx.yyyy.DAA011.DATA
xxxx.yyyy.DAA011.INDEX
|
I'm wondering whether there's a setting in ISPF will only show the first 3 qualifiers, so those files with .DATA and .INDEX at the back end WON'T be shown. _________________ Michael |

misi01,
Assuming you are trying the first 3 qualifiers , it is a simple thing to NOT show the additional qualifiers. You simply uncheck the option " Include Additional Qualifiers "

Sorry, my original append wasn't clear enough. What I wanted was ALL datasets with ONLY 3 qualifier and where the first 2 were xxxx.yyyy.
If I remove the "Additional ...." marking and specify either xxxx.yyyyy then I get NO hits. If instead, I specify xxxx.yyyy.d* then I get all the hits in my original append.
What I would LIKE to do is only show entries xxxx.yyyy.DAA01, xxxx.yyyy.DAB01 etc without the .DATA or .INDEX entries _________________ Michael |

misi01,
My answer above still is the same. If you just need only 1 qualifier after the first 2 qualifiers then simply specify 1 asterisk in place of the qualifier and remove the "Include additional qualifiers" and you should get only the entries with 3 qualifiers.
So in essence type xxxx.yyyy.* with no " Include additional qualifiers" and you should only get list with dataset names that have 3 qualifiers. Any datasets that have more than 3 qualifiers will NOT be shown _________________ Kolusu - DFSORT Development Team (IBM)

The reason it doesn't seem to be working where I am at the moment, is that they have some sort of "top layer" on ISPF called SPIFFY which seems to throw things out of joint (another example is that I can't edit a PDS member, then enter the command S xxxxx to select/edit member xxxxx in the same PDS; I get an error message) _________________ Michael |

"SPIFFY" rang a bell with me - I thoughtperhaps that it was something originated by my mate Steve Coalbran, However, googling shows that he was a co-author of the redbook on the ISPF Productivity Toolkit (ISPF/PT) and that says that ISPF/PT was formerly called SPIFFY which was a product from Isogon. So it looks like SPIFFY was bought by IBM and rebranded as ISPF/PT.
Just a bit of side-info. _________________ Utility and Program control cards are NOT, repeat NOT, JCL. |

Misi01,
Can you turn it off? something like this SPIFFY OFF ?
Also for editing the members is it the brand new member or empty member? If it is empty member then you need to set the option to able to edit it.
Type SETTINGS and press enter
