My memory says that about 15 years ago, a colleague used to run a standard (?) ISPF command called MS34. Basically, this was the same as 3.4 except it allowed you to group different PDS names together into a "list" that was then shown. For example, I might want a list I called MYCOBOL to consist of 'myuserid.sys1.cobol' and 'fred.sys2.cobol'.

If I then ran ms34, selecting name MYCOBOL, I would see a list with these 2 PDS's in it. I could then select, say, the first one and edit it in the normal manner (rather than running 3.4, entering and selecting the first one's name, then PF3, entering the second one etc etc).

We now have what seems to be the equivalent with a panel called ISRWORK that has a headline in it "ISPF Referral lists for object selection".

My question is this. Is there some method of running a macro that would automatically start this panel, select a specific list with a / in the action field, then an L in the action field on the next panel (ISRPDSNL) so I end up with the equivalent of the MS34 command.

misi01,

I have no idea as to what MS34 does but from your description it looks like a REFLISTD command. Check this link which explains it in detail

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSLTBW_2.1.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r1.f54ug00/refl.htm

There are already commands in the command table to invoke the reflist panes from any panel. See the command table commands that start with 'REF' (such as REFLISTD or REFACTD)

In simple terms

1) Using 3.4 or the DSLIST command, display a list of data sets containing the data sets you would like to add to a list.

2) Then enter RA in front of the data sets you want to add to a personal data set list (remember the = command repeats a DSLIST command).
