#1: CICS Web Services and EXEC CICS START Author: chuck PostPosted: Wed Aug 09, 2023 3:15 pm

I converted an existing CICS program to a web service but it's abending on an EXEC CICS START instruction because of the TERMID(EIBTRMID) clause. I removed it and it seems to be doing its thing somewhere because I can see the database update that the started program is supposed to do.

But I would like a better idea what's going on- is there a preferred approach to invoking transactions via START from w/in a CICS Web Service?

Thanks

chuck,

Did you update the XML file to handle the terminal property?
Code:

<service>
<terminal_handler>
<cics_soap_1.1_handler/>
</terminal_handler>
</service>

I would suggest that you read thru this CICS Web Services Share Presentation

Thank you. I had to follow up with our CICS sysprog and he confirms that all our pipelines use the standard CICS handlers coded as in your example above. I have also shared the presentation with him. He has promised to look some more into it as time permits.

Hi, our Sysprog says that our set up is like in your example and he read thru the presentation and he said he found this
TERMID(name)
This option is required when the transaction to be started must communicate with a terminal; it should be omitted otherwise.

So he said just go ahead and omit it.F
Thanks
