For a duplicate OUTFIL ddname, DFSORT issues:

ICE219I 0 DUPLICATE DDNAME ddname IGNORED

and ignores the duplicate ddname.

Ignoring duplicate OUTFIL ddnames is consistent with the way duplicate ddnames are handled in general with DFSORT and other utilities. For example, the following IEBGENER job will ignore the duplicate ddnames and copy SYSUT1 to SYSUT2 - it will NOT terminate:

Code:

//S3    EXEC  PGM=IEBGENER
//SYSPRINT DD  SYSOUT=*
//SYSUT1 DD DSN=MYID.INS1,DISP=SHR
//SYSUT1  DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSUT2  DD DSN=MYID.OUTS1,DISP=OLD
//SYSUT2  DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN    DD DUMMY
