Not that simple Kolusu!!!!
Notice my example, the numeric field at the beginning is an integer (and works fine); the second field is a date, and the delimiter is a literal.
However, I will look into the DIGITS column function and its effect on DATE fields. I guess it must be the DATE field that is the culprit here.

CHAR function works fine with a column definition of integer/smallint and also with decimals with exception of columns defined with zero decimals.
