The following DFSORT/ICETOOL JCl will give you the desired results. You need to have z/OS DFSORT V1R5 PTF UQ95214 or DFSORT R14 PTF UQ95213 (Dec, 2004) installed which support KEEPBASE option on SPLICE.

which is this post

I am just wondering if you are the same person as the original poster. If you are not then for christ sake stop sharing the IDS. I do not charge for posting on this board.

kolusu,

Sorry for the confusion Sad . you have written DFSORT/ICETOOL and In the JCL I see that you used ICETOOL so I thought DFSORT is different.

//STEP0100 EXEC PGM=ICETOOL
//DFSMSG DD SYSOUT=*
//TOOLMSG DD SYSOUT=*
//IN DD *
Code:

In the input file 'AAA' was overwritten with 'BBB'. But I want to rewrite only the spaces with 'AAA'/'BBB', I don't want to overwrite the data in that position.
