Howdy Expat, I think my code works because of the line :-

IF TYPE1 NE 'CT' AND TYPE1 NE 'FI' THEN DELETE ;

Therefore, if the last record is not FI it must be CT due to the above code. The END_OF_FILE statement then takes care of it.
