|

Hi,
Our customer sent us a list of 100,000 datasets (residing on DASD) and asking us to find out whether to KEEP or DELETE them. The last date to complete this activity is 17th July 2008. We are not even 10% through of the list.
The list contains the datasets not found and dataset in MIGRAT2 status.
-Would anybody please suggest us a utility to deal this situation? A readymade one is most welcome.
-Is it possible to find out list of datasets in MIGRAT2 status using REXX?
Please help.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Ranga

Hi,
Since we have been working on this application for quite sometime, we are using that experience to determine whether to KEEP or DELETE.
For example, say there is a DB2 table that is downloaded and maintained as a GDG generation. Such files we use to refer back if customer asks us anything to dig out.
Let me know if you need more info.
Thx. _________________ Ranga

You haven't answered the question vkphani asked. What are the business rules (criteria) that determine which data sets should be deleted/kept? _________________ ....Terry |

The rule is an inactivity of a dataset for a period of 24 months should be deleted. _________________ Ranga

DCOLLECT M records should help you along the way. They are fully described in the IDCAMS book. |

Hi Ranga,
It may be worth trying to get access as these records are very helpful. I've just looked through some CSI jobs and the manual, but it seems that CSI does not contain the last referenced date for files.
Has creation date ............... if that is any good ? |

Hi, expat.
The creation date does not help us as these dsns were sent by the system personnel.
Thanks. _________________ Ranga
