Hi,

I have got a notification from my Db2 support team in my organization that we are converting from DB2 BIND to REBIND to take advantage of the access path stability.

In nutshell:
DB2 access paths would occasionally change and perform poorly after a bind (or rebind). Returning, to the acceptable access path could at times be very trying. To alleviate this problem, IBM created access path stability, whereby old access paths can be reinstated by merely rebinding the package with a new SWITCH parameter. This means greatly reduced client impact and less stress on IT staff. But the use of this new feature is only possible, if after the initial bind of a new/revised program, only rebinds are done.

I am not sure if I understand this well, does it mean that we would have to REBIND our packages with the SWITCH parameter to take advantage of the access path stability?
Or
Does it only apply ONLY for new or old programs which we change, going forward?
In the latter case, what happens to the existing Db2 programs? Would they continue to have the access path instability?

Please help me understand this.

Thanks,
