Hi,

I have been tasked with finding out what steps need to be put in place on our system so that we can react more proactively to system reliability issues. In talking with application folks, i came to know that, we dont have any notification system built in, which can alert the application team, if we have long running IMS transactions (because of deadlock or looping issues).

This is my question, is it a industry practise to have notification system built to alert about long running transactions (IMS or CICS). I have been getting some pushback from the production control team, when i proposed to have this notification system created. If this is a industry practise, are there any white papers, or data which shows the benefit of creating such a notification system.

Thanks
