|
|
Hi,
We all know that writing to a Tape consumes more time (elapsed time) than writing to a DASD. In my area, it is more important to work on the elapsed time (to meet SLA etc) than saving CPU. My system has increasing data every month. Data is currently written into tape and this takes a lot of time. I wa splanning to move to a DASD but did face a few space abends (SB37, 838 etc) and increasing the primary and secondary took care of the issue. I also used VOL=(,,,30) etc but my growing concern is whether putting a big space parameter a full proof method to ensure a space abend will not happen in prod?
Any suggestions on how I can go about. _________________ Cheers! |

A big space parameter will not ensure space will be available. This depends on volume pool free space; what else may be using space at that time, etc.
You may be able to tune the tape elapsed time. Largest blocksizes, multiple units, etc. What's the device type? Is it virtual device? _________________ Regards,

TAPE mostly they are using for backup in live projects. It has some separate UNIT format also.. better u can go through the ADSRRDU utility.. u can get more answers.
