All,

Can anyone tell me the way to view the latest update of an ESDS file without closing the file in online region??

We have a ESDS log file which logs all the activities happened on specific transactions. Whenever I need to view the latest update(let us say for today Sep 22) in the file, I have to close the file in the online region to get latest changes being reflected in the ESDS file. I dont want to close the file all the time to view its latest updation. Is it possible to achieve this by changing the CICS program to view the latest changes thru FILE-AID or some other application or Is there anyother way to achieve this?

fyi: I have searched and could not find any related updates.

Thanks!
Ganesh

Ganesh,
Use VSAM Record-Level Sharing(RLS) and it will solve your problem. Check this link for a detailed description of VSAM Record-Level Sharing(RLS).

Hi Kolusu,

Thanks for the Link. I read it once and could not find the way of achieving it. Anyway, let me read it again and will update my understandings soon.

Hi Kolusu,

Thanks for the link. I have deleted and defined the ESDS with the LOG AND STORCLAS option. Also made the file to be RLS in the CICS region. Able to see the latest updated records now.
