What kind of datasets, how are you trying to view them, any other messages? |

ISPF allows you to provide a format definition which allows you to view selected fields only. The format to be used is specified on the dataset name entry panel. Have you got a value in the 'Format name' field???? If so - remove it. _________________ Utility and Program control cards are NOT, repeat NOT, JCL. |

Mr. Nic Clouston already gave you the answer, you have something in the field:
Format Name . . . . . |

Profile Name . . . . .
Format Name . . . . .

Thanks,

The screen shot that you have pasted is from option 2 edit - well at least it matches up with my display when I go into ISPF 2
Methinks after a smidge of testing that any values entered in the 3.4 screen do not carry into the 2 screen. So maybe you should try taking a look using option 3.4 and put a / under the prompt column and see what happens
Code: |
Name Prompt Size Created Changed
E________ MEMBER99 / 77 2008/07/14 2008/07/14 15:13:16

My bet would be that the displayed field marked "Format Name" will have some rubbish value in it. _________________ If it's true that we are here to help others,

If I enter something in the format field I get the same message. If you are getting the message even though you do not have anything in the format field I would say that either you have an initial macro that is putting that in or a default in your ISPF. In any case, you probably need to talk to your system programmer about this. This would be a site specific problem that we can not help you with. |
