Hello Gurus,

Now we are working on fine tuning a system to improve the performance of Batch Flow and to reduce the batch window time. In doing so, I have heard that for large number of records, SORT is better and efficient way than IDCAMS/REPRO to copy(only copy) records, let's say for PS. Is it true? Could anyone please throw some light on this, if possible from OS point of view?

Regards,
Sandip.

Sandip,

SORT utility performs better than IDCAMS. Sort utility is highly tuned, EXCP driven and consumes very less resources.

Check this link which explains in detail about advantages of SORT

http://www.naspa.com/PDF/2001/0901%20PDF/T0109011.pdf

Hope this helps...

Cheers

Kolusu,
That link is wonderful. I am waiting for the next part as Jim Moore has indicated. Please give me the link if possible and some other documents from Naspa. I am really interested anything abount mainframe. But I am a novice about database as I didn't get any chance to work on database till now but VSAM is OK.

Thanks anyway,

Sandip.
