|
|
We are currenthly using the CICS TS 2.2.0. Our Online application uses VSAM files only.
Our Z/OS mainframe is getting upgraded to z990 and the processor is 2084. The driver is 55K and the Z/OS is Version 1.4.
Will it have any effect on our application.
Any thoughts on this is welcome. |

Upgrading the mainframe hardware (but not the O/S or CICS) should not have any effect on the functioning of your in-house written CICS applications except to possibly make them run faster, (unless you come across some incredibly weird timing/syncronisation bug - but there's nothing you could do about that until it happened really!).
However, upgrading to new hardware will change your CPU ids etc. and some externally supplied products/applications (e.g. from CA, Compuware etc.) have license keys which will need updating for the new CPU ids. If you are responsible for any such products you may need to contact the suppliers for new license keys.
Your mainframe resource accounting people may need to adjust their charging setup to account for the faster CPUs if you have any customers who you charge on a CPU time basis. |
