yrcreddy,
Go to option 3.4
Give the dataset and press pf11. You will find a column called DSORG. It will be PO if the dataset is PDS and PS if it is a sequential dataset.
or a simple "s" besides the dataset will give the datset information.

there are so many ways to view the information
1)As koluso said.
2)in 3.4 type the particular dataset and you will get it and type I to receive information about it.
3)In rexx ,USE tso function like LISTDSI('''YOUR DATASET with user id"') |
