I run CA-7 and am very familiar with the various types of dependencies. And when you say "soft" and "hard" dependencies, I have no idea what you're talking about. In fact, a search through the entire CA-7 bookshelf for "hard dependency" yields zero results.

As for lead time, that's supposed to be the time you expect the job to take to process. The purpose for it is that if you specify a time you want the job to be finished (due out time), you also specify lead time. If you have a job that takes half an hour, and you want it finished by midnight, then you specify a due out time of 24:00 and a lead time of 30 minutes. This tells CA-7 to mark it late if the job hasn't started by 23:30 for whatever reason (unfulfilled requirements, or submit time not yet reached).

In addition, if Leadtime is specified for a dataset which is the requirement for a Job, then it tells CA7 when that DSNRQMT needs to be satisfied for the Job.

For example, If JOBA with SUBTM=16:00 has a DSN requirement on dataset AAA.BBB.CCC with LEADTM=04 ( 4 hrs), the dataset AAA.BBB.CCC should have got created between 12:00 hrs and 20:00 Hrs to satisfy JOBA requirement. Otherwise this DSNRQMT for JOBA will never get satisfied and we have to manually satisfy them. i.e DSN should have been created +/- 4 hrs before the Job enters the queue.

Thanks,
Jaya.
