Hi,

We have a test environment where we make daily dataset backups, wich suppose a short amount of data / tapes. We use some old 3490 units, and tapes are pulled and mounted manually by operators.

My question is about recycle. I'm trying to provide operators a tape list in their mount order, so they can put them all in a cartridge and forget about, instead of waiting for each mount request.

My try was with 'recycle verify tapelist' command. This should provide a 'pull list' and a 'mount list', according to the manual. Manual also advises that the mount order might have some changes when the actual recycle is executed. I decided to try and see.

I made some tests and found that the 'mount list' order is usually similar to the real mount requests order, but sometimes are completely different, and can't figure out what depends on.

Could someone tell me wich factors concerns the mount order (none of those mentioned in the manual applies to my case), or maybe let me know of any other method of getting a reliable mount order list?

Thanks in advance,

Jaime

Jaime,

Check this link where you might find some documentation

Hope this helps...
