An old question but have seen around many times, so I'll try...
I'd say, you are in the middle of license regulations. First thing you need is a working 'zOS' system -- Hercules can be your choice though.
As Hercules says,
Quote:
Hercules is an open source software implementation of the mainframe System/370 and ESA/390 architectures, in addition to the new 64-bit z/Architecture. Hercules runs under Linux, Windows (98, NT, 2000, and XP), and Mac OS X (10.3 and later).

Hercules is not a "working z/OS system". It is a hardware emulator. IBM does not license z/OS to run on Hercules. Getting a z/OS license for Hercules will be "not that easy" also. _________________ New members are encouraged to read the How To Ask Questions The Smart Way FAQ at http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html.
