When entering the omvs command the session starts but ends immediatly with msg >>>> FSUM2331 The session has ended. Press <Enter> to end OMVS.

I can enter the ishell command and view directories and files. The OMVS stc is up and running. Is there a configuration parameter or a security rule stopping the session?

Thanks

Have a look at the system log and look for messages. Also be sure that you have an OMVS segement., and that the home directory listed in that segment exists and that you have access to it. For example, if the segment has the home directory /u/mwdazzo, be sure that exists and that you are the owner or have similar permissions. The LISTUSER command will tell you the segment info if you have authority to it. I forget the exact syntax there. Let us know what you find. I'd like to see more people become familiar with OMVS because, since it is Unix, it is a very powerful set of tools that would solve many of the problems posed on this board.

I second the geezer. OMVS has features I would love to see on standard MVS, such as piping. And you can use REXX, or Perl or shell scripts. No JCL in sight, horrahh.
