I'm tasked with converting a HIDAM/VSAM database to HIDAM/OSAM.

I've pulled info from IBM and other websites but can't find any good samples of allocating an OSAM dataset in an SMS environment.

My DASD team doesn't want me to put VOL=SER=(VOL1, VOL2, VOL3) in my JCL. They want SMS to manage volumes from the pool. DASD team also doesn't like STORCLAS=GTDSPACE.

Any suggestions or examples are as welcome as the sunshine! :?:

I think this piece of information will be of some help to you.I have only information on the JCL part

1)I actually tested the jobs for oldside(vsam) and newside(OSAM)

In new side,we will be adding the Buffers values for OSAM datasets.Buffers values are nothing, but number of buffers and its blocksize.

IOBF =(NUM OF BUFFER,BLOCK SIZE OF OSAM DATASET)

Conversion from VSAM to OSAM is simple - it just takes a DBD change, and a REORG

I will come up with more information on VSAM to OSAM.....

meanwhile, check this link,it may be useful for you, download the PDF,it is good.
