Hi,

We are facing a strange error while submitting the jobs. When the user id starts with 'U', then the job gives an error that "********** ILLEGAL JOB CARD - VALUE OF NOTIFY= PARAMETER IS NOT VALID **". We tried with couple of valid user ids which starts with "U" and got the same error.

Is there any restriction on NOTIFY parameter?

Other than the restrictions in the JCL manual, I don't know of any. Have you asked your systems programmers if there is a JES exit governing NOTIFY parameters?

Ranjish,

There are no restrictions on NOTIFY parameter. Show us your job card.
