Click on the Quick Manuals link at the top of every page in this forum. Then click on the CICS Language Reference link. Scroll down to Appendix A and click on EIB Fields. Then scroll down to the EIBRESP values. Usually the condition name is enough to figure out what your problem is. |

suma,
VSAM error code of 12 is file open error but you are not getting that. You got CICS READ error and jsharon1248 has already given reference for it.

Excellent point. I didn't notice the conflicting terminology in the op's original post. VSAM file status values are indeed completely different from CICS EIB Resp values. Thanks for clarifying that point. |

in a cics program you are never going to get the 'VSAM File-STATUS' code, because you can not define the FD, thus you have no reference to the file-status clause.
As well as the fact that the VSAM I/O functions are performed via CICS API's and not normal I/O service routines.
and I know,
that anyone who says that they have a vsam file status of ? in a cics module,
does not know what they are talking about.
This is a misuse of words exactly like the misuse of 'JCL'. After a while we ignore it,
knowing the OP has little or no experience. _________________ Dick Brenholtz
