nevilh,

Quote:

The problem I can see with the utility would be the level of authorization required to issue the commands to cancel the session, there again if you have the authorization to run such a utility you dont need the utility you just issue the commands ..... sort of a catch 22 thing

The original problem was not on how to exit but how to enter again.

I told a method by which you can enter again by same id but with a different profile. It is just added advantage that you can cancel earlier session if you want to. Here you are cancelling your own id so i guess authorization will not be required.

Dibakar what you are suggesting is a non_standard solution. Pre z/OS 1.4
the ability to logon multiple times was not allowed by JES2 (though there was a user modification that would allow you to do this) If I remember correctly with z/OS 1.4 and later, multiple logons with the same userid are controlled via the SYSIKJUA enq . If this enq has been updated to a system enq then multiple logons will not be allowed otherwise multiple logons will be allowed. In short your solution is only feasible if you have friendly sysprogs and a security department who are willing to play along.

I knew this very late reply, but just check.

a) If you are able to see TPX screen, then you just type "I" in your session. This will inactivate your session and comes out. You need to wait for a minute to login again

b) If you have MAINVIEW option in TPX, then go there and select OS option and select your id. Then cancel your id. We need to select some more option, but before that let me know, whether do you haev MAINVIEW?

Hi,

We normally purge sessions using any one of the below methods:

1. TSO Command :

Code:

tso opscmd c u=userid

the above is site dependent......

2. Using the below batch JCL submitted from another Session or from another Sysplex

Code:

 //PKTPURGE JOB (UU033704770,E1),'PURGE',
 //         MSGCLASS=R,REGION=5M,NOTIFY=userid,
 //         USER=userid,PASSWORD=password
 /*ROUTE XEQ sysplex
 //SDSF     EXEC  PGM=SDSF
 //SYSPRINT DD    SYSOUT=*
 //ISFOUT   DD    SYSOUT=*
 //ISFIN    DD    *
 ST
 OWNER userid
 PRE userid
 FIND userid
 ++P

 /*

Hope the above works..............

Thanks,
Hari.
