If there are two programs say A and B equivalent, and if I added 5 copy copybook ( redundant) statements, will it impact the load module size...?? |

Kolusu,
As per the reply it seems that on using OPTIMIZE(FULL) unrefrenced variables will be shred off. but what if optimize is not used. Will then load module also have unrefrenced variables? In other words, will the effective size be increased?

Sushil,
Yes the size will be increased as well as your performance also might degrade

It also depends where the copybooks live. If they are in LINKAGE then they won't add to the storage requirements of the program. However if they are in WORKING STORAGE then they certainly will have an impact on storage requirements. |
