Using z/OS DB2 version 7. When SQLCODE -803 is detected, is there a way to programatically obtain the indexspace-name? I do not see anywhere in SQLCA where this is stored. How/Where does DSNTIAR obtain the indexspace-name to populate into the error text?

Associated with every SQLCODE there is a message text, often including variables naming the objects that are involved in the error. These variables are included in the SQLCA in the field SQLERRMC, separated by X'FF'. DSNTIAR simply mixes the informations together to give you a completed error message.

As far as my knowledge goes, DSNTIAR is just a formatter program that takes the SQLCA as input and formats it to a proper error message. Any information that DSNTIAR displays should be there in SQLCA.
Did you try SQLERRMC to see if it contains the indexspace name.

I expected this type of info to be documented in the DB2 Developer's Guide, but it was not. Thanks for the explanation.
