Not really. This board is basically a board for application programmers, and mostly MVS beginning and/or intermediate level users. There is a fairly widespread belief that most users of this board (at least those asking questions) are not systems programmers and most VTAM (etc) questions are systems programming questions. There are occasional mentions non-TCP/IP related communications, but most new users never seen them or don't realize they are using them. Most of the questions here don't differentiate between JCL and SORT, let alone get into the bits and bytes of logmode definitions.
Having said that, please feel free to ask any questions in those areas. You may not get answers, but there are a few experienced people here, some of whom have sysprog experience.
If you need more immediate sysprog level answers, the best resource is the IBM-MAIN mailing list. The participants there are very experienced, some from the 360 days. Of course, most discussions do degenerate into discussions of the old days ( a fact frequently referred to as Jaffe's Conjecture ) but if you need advanced info, those are the people to ask.
OK then. I was actually coming from the 'answer questions' side of the table as opposed to the 'ask questions' as I've been involved with vtam/ncp for many years.
I've recently gotten back into applications but miss the old days and could contribute.
