Hi,

Could anybody know about How to ALLOCATE memory space which can be used by the program.

I used to allocate dynamic files through ALLOCATE statement. But I don't know how to Allocate "memory space" for a program.

I need to do following things,

1. Allocate memory space
2. Get values from the momery
3. Retrun value from memory
5. FREE memory space.

Please help me on this.

The original question asked about something you'd never need to do... get new memory, read it, and free it. If the memory is new then it will contain garbage or zeros. Maybe the original poster wanted to know how to chase existing control blocks and misused the term "allocate".

Thanks for further analysis on this topic.

As per Kolusu's link, I have found that ALLOCATE statement will help for PL 1 Programming (bauer - Mentioned).

This was helped me to dig that area more.

As per my undersanding, we can use new AREA allocation for above senario and using offset we can get the allocated storage. Using FREE statement, we can free the space.

If you feel, I am not in the right track, Please correct me.

I will be very happy, If you all provide any valuble comments on this.
