Address ispexec "(total_line)=linenum.zl"
Total_line --> has the number of records ... hope this helps

I would assume that this is a MACRO command ?

OK, you knew that, I knew that, and quite a few other more experienced users would have known that, but judging by the level of the OP, they probably wouldn't have known that.

But just thought it might be worth mentioning for the lesser experienced users.

just stirring Very Happy but we are drifitng off and forgetting the requirement which is to have a list of dataset names eg. as in 3.4, put some command in front of one similar to B, V etc and return, maybe at top right in short message area?, the record count without actually, knowingly, opening the dataset. So, you are attempting to create a dataset list command.

Yeah, we know, but there seems to be an I/O failure from the OP component at the moment. My brain is currently in device pending state awaiting I/O from the OP sub system.

WOW! - you got a brain? Where did you get it? Can I get one, too?

BTW - it's veg stew for me 2nite - my gout demands that I should not eat meat so it is meat for one meal a day only. British sausages do not count Mr. Green
