hi,

could someone pls give some hint of how to get a cobol compiler for windows?

i would like to process sequential files (.txt) in a windows xp environment...

most of the big companies have academic discounts for their products. This is a link to Micro Focus's site for a 'FREE' version of their compiler. It probably needs .net to function, but that is also free from MicroSoft.

jctgf,

but for the MicroFocus compiler to work, you also need Visual Studio, also from MS, and about the cheapest is an academic at about $200.

made an additional post instead of editing the last one, to insure that you see this.

COBOL for dummies has a couple on a CD

Cobol by Stern & Stern? used to have a compiler with it

my shop uses Microfocus, its expensive. u can get a trial version and try for 30 days.
