kiran,
Please send me a copy of the complete and unedited job listing offline, including the JES job log, JCL, SYSOUT and SyncSort message output. You can email it as a text attachment directly to me at alissa.margulies@syncsort.com. Once we figure out a resolution to the performance issue you are experiencing, we'll post it online for everyone to see.
Best regards,

I am not familiar with sso, so I'm not quite sure how to help you migrate the information from the mainframe to an emailable (not sure that's even a word) format. Can anyone else help? _________________ Alissa Margulies

vak255,
I do not know what is "sso". Find out from your colleagues if there is a way to copy your Spool information (JES / SYSOUT) to dataset (There must be a way). Then download the dataset from mainframe to a text file and send to Alissa.
Thanks,
Phantom |

Phantom,
SSO is a CA product which stands for single sign-on.
vak255,
SSO is just a sign-on software. I think you can access sdsf panels. go to sdsf and just put an "xdc" to the left of your job sysout and hit enter and follow the screens

Wow...Thanks for the info Kolusu.
I initially thought OP would probably have mis-typed 'TSO' as 'SSO'. Good to know new things.
Thanks,

I don't see any jobs in SDSF, I found out that all the completed jobs are removed from SDSF as that can be accessed in SSO, so I could not see those jobs in SDSF. There are options in SSO to transmit..I will transmit it and will fwd that to allissa.
I appreciate all the help. Guys ure great. I never thought i will get someone to actually analyze my job. |

vak255,
There is a way to stop jobs from getting routed to SSO from SDSF. Check your MSGCLASS parameter. It usually says 'X' or 'Y' (could be anything depending on installation). This specifies where your jobs are to be stored after completion. You can try changing this to retain your job in spool.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,

| I never code MSGCLASS parameter in my job. It takes the default, I will try the options to see whether it can be done.. |

Is there a way to optimize this to reduce the runtime.

vak255,
We have reviewed the complete job listing and have found that while the entire job runs in about 45 minutes, the combined sort steps only take about 14 minutes. Furthermore, these steps seem to be running reasonably well. Is there a way to tune the other applications in this job? _________________ Alissa Margulies
