Hi,
I am getting an error A RECOVERABLE WORKFILE EXISTS CONTAINING DATASET 'my.pds(aa)' when executing an EDIT (EDIT 'my.pds(aa)' OLD DATA NONUM) in a CLIST. Any idea how to solve this ?

Thanks

Nic,
I am going to ignore you as you are not of much use to me getting an answer to the post above. I posted in the other forum since I haven't seen any replies to this after a day.

Thanks

PS : May be it is time for you to be in a place you really want to be.

Well, if the other forum was responding I would double-check the posting dates but my first impression was that they were both yesterday so you did not wait a full day let alone the recommended 48 hours. If you did, then apologies to you and everyone else.

As I cannot get onto the other site I will put my thought about your problem here. I get the impression that the dataset was being edited in a TSO session that ended abnormally whilst the edit session was in progress with RECOVERY ON and since that session the dataset has not been edited in TSO to enable recovery. Not 100% sure if that is the case but looks like it from the info given.

Srijith,
1. Nic DID say please.
2. Since the problem appears to have been resolved on the other help board, when were you planning on posting that here and preventing others from continuing to volunteer their unpaid time to work on a problem that has already been solved?

Nic,
I posted on the other site on 04-10-2008, 10:20 AM . I didn't wait for 48 hours and was not aware of that rule.

Terry,
You got a point and I am posting the resolution below. Sorry for not doing this earlier

I requested a collegue to execute the same CLIST and he didn't get the error. That prompted me to search all my PDSs for the erroring member in EDIT. The search returned couple of PDSs and I start deleting one by one and executing the CLIST. When I deleted userid.EDITUTL2 the problem is solved. Not a scientific way to solve the problem, but it did work.
