Hi,
I have a Jcl that separates a dataset into two. Iam using outfil to populate the two files. Now is it possible to check the empty condition of one file alone?
Eg:
//STEP002 EXEC PGM=ICEMAN
//SORTIN DD DSN=input.ds,DISP=SHR
//SORTOUT DD DSN=out1.ds,disp=(new,catlg,delete)
//SORTOF01 DD DSN=out2.ds,DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE)

PARM=('NULLOUT=RC4') will check for the empty condition of SORTOUT dataset. Is it possible to check empty condition of SORTOF01 DD in this same step itself? Please advise. Thanks.

kanitha-mvs,

Couple of Q's

1. Is sortout and sortof01 are the same copy of data? or different?
2. How are you going to distinguish which file set the RC of 4?

This might help:

The NULLOUT=RC4 parameter applies to the SORTOUT data set (NOT the OUTFIL data set).

The NULLOFL=RC4 parameter on an OUTFIL statement applies to the OUTFIL data set (I assume that's SORTOF01 in this case).
