|
|
Hi
I wanted to know if it is possible for existing cobol-DB2 applications in z/os to access remote RDBMS (non-DB2) on the occasion of database migration.I read about how DRDA protocol can be used to connect DB2 z/os to remote DB2 but did not get any information on whether DB2 z/os can connect to any other remote RDBMS apart from DB2 using DRDA.
Can you please suggest some options to achieve this? |

Thanks a lot Kolusu..
Actually I wanted to know if there are any non-product based solutions like DRDA.But I am not sure about its implementation in the current scenario. |

Is this a real requirement or you just interested ? Oracle has a gateway interface that can connect to DB2 _________________ Kolusu

Thanks kolusu
I am looking for options to connect existing cobol applications on z/OS to any other remote RDBMS other than DB2.
I read about three part name approach using DRDA concept. But I also came across this condition that three part name (DRDA approach) can be used only for DRDA compliant RDBMS. I could not find out the list of DRDA compliant RDBMS other than DB2 ,Informix etc.
Is there any other RDBMS that is DRDA compliant? |

Sheelu,
If you had read my earlier response about Oracle you would have got the answer by now. _________________ Kolusu

Thanks kolusu
I did go through the link provided by you.Actually I wanted to know if it is possible to connect batch programs running on z/OS to remote non-DRDA RDBMS (MYSQL, ORACLE ) without any product like federation server.
I read that it is possible to connect to remote DB2 without federation server ,but I am not sure about the other RDBMSes.
I am also looking for the list of DRDA compliant RDBMSes other than DB2. |

Sheelu,
Do you even read the responses? This is the second time that I had to point to the earlier post in this very topic.
*Sigh* I guess I have to spoon feed you.
