Not sure if this is the best/correct place to put this, but here goes.
I've written a DL/1 to DB2 conversion application. Needless to say, it's not of the type that you can rest your head on the keyboard and everything's converted with 100% accuracy. I've written some documentation and placed it in Linkedin at https://www.linkedin.com/posts/michael-simpson-19503434_how-to-convert-a-dl1-program-to-db2-activity-6633852072611713024-O-3z?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_groups_entity%3B9stgnoMxSMG22AvQ%2Bb0lOQ%3D%3D. (If you can't access this and assuming you're a member of Linkedin, try adding the group Mainframe (COBOL,JCL,DB2,IMS,CICS,VSAM,z/OS,Adabas/Natural) Experts
and view the link to my doc.
The long and the short of it is that you define a mapping file that shows how DL/1 segments/fields correspond to DB2 tables/columns. The application will convert your xxxTDLI calls to DB2 ones as well as changing any references to DL/1 segment fields to their equivalent DB2 columns. The code has been written so as to be flexible enough for you to be able define what type of SQL call you want generated.
If your company is even thinking of converting slowly but surely, send me a private message and, with an example of a Cobol DL/1 source code, I can illustrate how the before/after results would look. _________________ Michael

I'll send it to you.
Couple of comments.
1 Would appreciate any feedback as to readability, understandability (newly invented word), structure etc
2 Because it contains a number of screen shots and isn't finished to my satisfaction please don't append it to the forum as yet (based on point 1) _________________ Michael |
